Merrick family

The Merricks were named once as a councilor family of Haudh-Gwenn, and no Merrick has ever sat on that council. The name reached it by marriage and left the same way: a Merrick married a councilor and took the councilor’s name, so the house is remembered in the chamber under somebody else’s. They stood high enough, before that, for a match to be arranged between the house and a Grayeras daughter. Outside Haudh-Gwenn the name carries nothing. What the city remembers of the Merricks is not a Merrick: it is Naevora Grayeras refusing that match, loudly, at a ball. No member of the house has ever been named.
