The Eldamar-forest painting

A framed landscape in good condition, lifted out of the command room when the party sacked the Silver Web’s den under the Mól ruins for the third time. It shows the Eldamar forests, and at the treeline a hound. The hound is the detail that makes the thing worth hanging: the animal is recognizable enough that one painted at the edge of a wood turns an ordinary landscape into a picture somebody wants. The art was worth a handful of gold to the right buyer, and the frame about as much again.

They could not take it. The Oubliette was full, carrying the Wraithblade Khopesh and the whole of Beltran Grayeras’s effects at once, and the painting was too heavy to haul out by hand. The argument over it ran long. It ended with the painting stashed in the sealed upstairs room that only Mikhail can open, the prisoners tied, and the party walking out to sleep at last with it still on the wrong side of the door.
