Reading spectacles

A pair of spectacles handed to Mikhail at Vigil by Venessa Hasek, along with the scroll he had asked for. He had no time to study the thing, she said, and these would help him read it.

He already could. Reading what is written in magic is a trick he has had for a long while, and he said so, but she had no way of knowing that, and he took them anyway.

What they do beyond that, Mikhail never established. He read the scroll through, waited over it rather longer than the room was comfortable with, and put it back.
