Scabbard of Spell Storing
An electrum-filigreed rapier sheath that holds a spell until the blade lands
A sheath, pulled out of the collapsed smithy inside Wraithblade Keep. Koa had his hand deep in the debris, tugging at what he took for a table leg, and it came free and took a scratch out of his arm on the way. Cleaned off, it proved fine work, electrum filigree running the length of it, and sized for nothing Koa carried: no greatsword would go in it, and no longsword either. Something dainty. A foil, or a rapier. He handed it straight to Mikhail.
Held in the hand it pulls. Not painfully, and not taking anything away that does not come back, more like a magnet finding iron. Koa had felt nothing from it. Mikhail felt it draw on the strange bottomless swell of power he has carried since the goo, and worked out what it wanted: it will hold a spell cast into it, and let the blade drawn from it deliver the spell on a hit. Second level at the very most, which rules out anything worth calling a fireball.
Cast into it today and the spell is still there tomorrow, after you have slept and taken your magic back.
Mikhail’s rapier has ridden in it since. Nobody has yet put anything in it.
