The river Loshev stands on, and the road nearly everything in that town arrived by
Loshev stands on the Nahr Al-Bahr, and nearly everything that reaches the town reaches it by water. Coffee cannot be grown anywhere in Idir, and it comes in down the river through Loshev, which is how a region that cannot raise a bean drinks more of it than tea. The ancient bridge crosses south of the town.
Passage downriver to Haudh-Gwenn runs under three days and takes three boats to do it: a keelboat off the pier before daybreak, a sailing ship across the lake, and a keelboat again on the far side.
What moved on it was not all cargo. Captain Torr’s people came down it packed in crates, held a day at most in warehouses along the banks that were paid well enough not to ask what was inside them.
