Osto
Peredhel's capital, standing outside all nine of its provinces, known abroad for the universities around it and for almost nothing else
Osto is Peredhel’s capital and part of none of its nine provinces: a seat above the province cities rather than one of them. A river runs down from it to Ternik, in the province of Duin, kept clear of shipwrights by a former Duinhîr’s decree so that trade out of the capital could move easily along it.
The rest is schooling. Landor de Bellun, sent out of Yovance by a family who would not have him educated at home, trained in the universities around Osto and studied Peredhel’s way of combat there well enough to command against it. He lost anyway, to Leon Yaegar, who by his account did not stick to the books the way the other commanders did. He came home with radical ideas of freedom and justice for individuals. Nobody in the company has been within a country of the place.
