River of Thea

Its name translates as river of the sea, which is a fair description of where it goes and a poor one of where it comes from. Salt lies in deposits along its bed, and the men who fish it will tell you there are sharks in the water, and that somewhere under the current the ocean comes flowing back. Mikhail heard all of it from a boat and wrote none of it down. It did not seem important.
