Within the Arcane Congress, every distinct place of education is referred to as a “university.” These universities boast distinctive names and histories, each holding a unique place in the annals of magical academia. However, the Arcane Congress classifies each university into specific “colleges.” This categorization allows for a more organized framework within the realm of magical education. The original four colleges were named after the first Grand Masters of their respective schools.
For instance, both Ignis Arcis and Morbidae Sanctuarium are affiliated with the Yávië college, focusing on Evocation and Necromancy. On the other hand, Arcanum Veritas finds its allegiance within the Hrívë domain, which encompasses the realms of Divination and Transmutation. Through this classification system, the Arcane Congress ensures a cohesive structure while honoring the diverse branches of magical study represented by each university.
Colleges
Among all the schools, Illusion and Necromancy were recognized as the most potent and sought-after. A race began among aspiring mages to become the first to master all the schools of magic. Many achieved mastery in a single school, while a select few proved their exceptional talent by becoming dual masters of non-opposing schools. These remarkable individuals earned the esteemed title of “Grand Masters of the Arcane.”
Each college was named after the first Grand Masters of the Arcane to grasp their respective two schools. In the case of the other schools, they were named after the person who created the new system of research and magical development.

“Path of Arcane Trials”
To gain enrollment and acceptance into an esteemed AC university, prospective students must undergo a comprehensive evaluation consisting of five tests. Meeting the criteria for admission entails passing at least four of these tests. Candidates may choose three preferred test formats; however, failing a chosen test, even if successful in the rest, results in rejection. The risk of this usually frightens prospective students into selecting only one, if any, chosen tests. The tests include:
- Alchemical Mastery Arcane Theory Arcane Craft Combat Creativity & Innovation Debate & Public Speaking Historical/Cultural Analytics Linguistic Proficiency Mathematics and Logic Physical Fitness & Aptitude Problem Solving Research & Documentation
Their evaluation results set the student’s tuition and various tailored educational paths. Each college within the Arcane Congress’s purview can teach a wide array of magical crafts, though many specialize in specific types of magic.
The Arcane Trials
Beyond daily studies, significant milestones mark a student’s journey. The Arcane Trials, held twice a year, are major events that test a student’s mastery in their chosen fields. These trials can involve complex multi-disciplinary challenges, requiring students to demonstrate not only their magical prowess but also their wit, resilience, and ethical judgment. Success in these trials is often a prerequisite for advancing to higher levels of study or gaining access to specialized resources and mentorships.
