Background
Arthur Freym was born into the upper echelons of Loshev society and grew up with the luxuries and the introductions that come with wealth and status. He learned early how to spend charm and wit on favor and influence, and built a reputation as charismatic and cunning.
The friendship that set his standing was with Nathan Fox, patriarch of the Fox family. It put him among the town’s elite and gave him a say in Loshev’s social and political business, and the Fox name has been both his protection and his opening ever since.
He views rules as mere suggestions and prefers to make his own path. He is a playboy, a skilled fencer, and always ready to turn a situation to his own advantage.
Appearance
Arthur stands 5’9” with a lean, athletic build, and weighs around 145 pounds. A thick, tousled brown mane falls to his shoulders and gives him a falsely rugged appearance, though it suits his sharp blue eyes. The charm is obvious at a glance. He favors darker-colored clothing accented with touches of purple or gold.
Personality
The playboy is real, and it is also a cover. Behind it sits a calculating mind that is always working out where the next advantage lies, and a wit quick enough to carry him through a difficult room. He is good company and a bad enemy, and he enjoys bending a rule for its own sake.
People come to him anyway. He entertains well and he is popular for it, but his relationships are transactional and he is measuring what each one is worth to him while he is charming. The manner holds up the image of a carefree, indulgent aristocrat over ambitions that are neither.
Relationships
His loyalty to Nathan Fox is unwavering, and it rests on years of shared history and a shared interest in keeping the standing they both have. The association with the Foxes reaches far enough to carry him through town politics without much friction.
Current Role
He spends his charm and his connections on the interests of the Fox family and his own. In practice that makes him a diplomat: he smooths over tensions and negotiates the deals his allies want, and advances his own ambitions in the same motion.
Campaign Updates
The party met him in passing, at Nathan Fox’s estate, on the evening they went there to trade a council seat for a trial. He arrived well-dressed, made a joke about what the Free Folk charge, and told Koa he wanted to work with him sometime soon (S1E05).
A good deal came of it. Fox sent him out as his negotiator on the Draazstone trade run (S3E33–S4E40), and when the Valiant Few wrote asking for a money-man he answered the letter in person. By S5E53 he was keeping their books at the Crack. He had made the offer to the one member of the party with no money and no standing, which is either a good eye or a bad one.
