The Peredhel sellsword who took the high command of Beltran's army once there was nobody left to hold it
A Peredhel mercenary who styled himself high commander, and who took over Beltran Grayeras’s private army once Beltran was dead and there was nobody left at the top of it.
Leon Yaegar had taught him, and that was what undid him. He opened the disbandment parley with mock courtesy, talked over Councilor Asiya Azrak, and needled Leon about why the great high commander had ever retired, all of it to buy time: he had marched men wide two nights earlier to come at Haudh-Gwenn from the north while everyone stood watching the east. Leon recognized the camp’s tent formation as one he had taught himself decades before, read the flanking march off it, said the plan aloud, and told him he was stalling.
Asiya offered his own riders triple their salary to take him, and then quadruple. Eleven of the twelve turned on him at once. He battered them off with sword and shield until they began cutting at his horse instead, then rode for his camp with eight of them behind him, and was taken there by his own men. Every man of that army is to be paid except him.
