Aldo
Con-man and grifter out of Galderia; of the Valiant Few
He came out of Galderia, raised near the capital at Galderium, and arrived the way he tends to arrive anywhere, waking up hungover in Ravenhold with no particular plan. He is a grifter by trade and by temperament. The work is done through other people’s faces.
Derry the Deviant is a priest, and hears confessions, and is not a priest. Billy is a sailor who worked the Haudh-Gwenn docks fishing for slaver contacts, and got one (S1E06). The personas are not disguises he puts on so much as the method itself: he would rather a mark tell a stranger the truth than tell Aldo a lie.
It has cost him. During the dock scandal he was arrested, wrongly and roughly, and the councilor whose docks they were apologized for it in private long after the fact (S3E34). And in a bad night alone, at the worst of his own doubt over which of the faces was his, he felt something take an interest in him for the first time. The god of masks and the false is a pointed one to be noticed by (S3E31). Nothing was promised. Nothing was asked. He has not gone back to ask either.

Edrick came out of the northern battle with a name for him and has used no other since. Not the guardian angel but my guardian angel, possessive every time, and never once in the third person.
At the Twisted Grove he climbed into the live tree and went through a pinhole between the planes. Offered beforehand the choice of which half of himself to defend, he had picked the body, on the reasoning that his body had survived worse. There are no souls on the far side of that hole, by the nature of the place, and his stayed behind. What was left of him was somewhere past nothing that was nonetheless something, where he saw and thought and lived and was not all there, and he had begun giving in to it when he snapped back and fell ninety feet. The Martyr caught him, carried his body out of the ruin, told the others he had gone where mortals are not meant to go, and left to fetch the soul. Nancáro drew a piece of himself out from over his own chest and mended the soul back in. No one mortal body could carry that, so the piece went into all three of the company at once, permanently, and Vëné corrected the god’s phrasing before they consented to it: not for as long as they live, but for as long as they exist.
He came back wrong. For about two days he did not answer to his name and spoke nothing but Galden, with Mikhail translating both directions and Koa reaching him mostly by touch. He talks in his sleep in every language he has at once, mixed and meaningless, and went on doing it for days after Peren came back to him. Told that the whole thing had taken a few minutes, he was distressed by it: too long, uncountable. When he had the words again, what he said was that it had been wrong, an absence of everything. He has taken to asking the party to tell him who he was, what he did and how he behaves, and Mikhail answers it as many times as he asks.
