Elemental nodes
Places where the Mól drew power straight out of the inner planes, and some of them still run
The scholars of the Mól Empire went into the inner planes, and did not come back content merely to describe them. What they built afterward were tappings: places where power could be drawn straight out of an elemental plane and put to work on this side.
They are still there. Nodes turn up across Erôth, mostly as ruin, and some of them are still running, centuries after the hands that made them stopped. What the Empire spent that power on, and how many nodes it made, was never written down.
The Gold Rush
Recent finds in Idir have set scholars moving in numbers, and the funding behind them is the interesting part. Nations are paying for the search. So are the faiths. The question both are paying to answer is the same one: the gods seem less present than the old stories have them, and nobody is sure why.
Some scholars have begun to suggest that the Empire’s tappings are the cause, and that in drawing on the planes directly the Mól became the catalyst of that fading. It is a suggestion and nothing more, advanced by interested parties inside a search paid for by people who would find it a convenient answer. Nobody has proven it.
