Pyrotechnics

Pyrotechnics is the Arcane Congress art of shaping fire that is already burning, rather than of making fire from nothing. Who teaches it, what it costs the caster, and where it sits in the Congress’s schooling were never written down.

Mikhail took the sanctioned art as his benchmark when a ring of flame burned across the dark Valley of Doom, a figure at its center throwing spiraling bursts. He read the working without knowing the hand: it looked like pyrotechnics, far stronger, and not Congress at all (S2E19).
