Three moons of Aurôrum
Awalan, Sarie and Bah'is, on three different clocks, and only one of them any use for keeping time
Three moons stand over Aurôrum and no two of them keep the same time.
Awalan comes full about once a month, which makes it the one ordinary people reckon by. Its new moon is the end of the month, and that convention traveled further than it should have: the slavers’ ciphers used end of month to mean exactly that, so a line written to look innocent could be read straight off the sky by anyone who knew to look up.
Sarie is full about every fourteen days, near enough twice for Awalan’s once.
Bah’is is full only once in several years. Rarely enough that most people will see it a handful of times in a life and remember where they were standing. How its cycle is counted, or whether anyone has troubled to count it, was never written down.
