The phrase is Nancáro’s, and it means the entrance to the lair of the thing sleeping under Haudh-Gwenn. Since his elevation he is not somewhere a person can walk to, and this is the one place he left an ear: go there, call, and he will hear it and know what it is about.
He left it because he had put a question to Koa that Koa would not answer on the spot.
