Aldo's Mól ritual dagger (from Ravenhold)

The dagger Aldo took in Ravenhold and has never had out in front of the other two, which Hinta read as made for Mól rituals

STANDING: ARMS · DAGGER · A MÓL RITUAL BLADE

Aldo took the dagger in Ravenhold and had never had it out in front of Koa or Mikhail. He showed it to Hinta instead, on his way out of her shop, holding it up and asking whether she had ever seen anything like it.

She had. She reached for it and he pulled it back before he could stop himself, and she put her hand out and told him that if he wanted it examined he could let her examine it. He gave it over.

Her reading came in pieces. The condition is terrible. Somebody had used it defensively, which she called foolish, and the small notches along it are where a blade was caught on it or where it was slammed against something. It was never honed for its proper use, so whoever carried it last either did not know what it was or had only lately come by it. And what it is, is a dagger for rituals: darker Mól rituals, out of their past. Asked what sort, she asked him what sort he thought, and what he took from her manner was human sacrifice rather than animal. She knew less about such things than would be useful to him, she said, and more than she would like.

She offered to put it right in two days. He watched her while she held it and read nothing worse than interest in the blade itself, and then declined and took it back unrestored.

The rest she gave him as context. The Mól did not exist only in Idir and their artifacts do not stay where they were made. A ritual dagger for dark rites is not a secret object either: things of that kind lie about, and few people know what they are looking at. For real answers he would want Draazstone, where they are remembered from disgust rather than reverence, and where what Hinta has of them was told to her as a child.

Who in Ravenhold he took it from was never discovered, and Hinta’s concern hung on that. If they had meant to own the thing and knew he had taken it, they might come looking for it. If it was coincidence, it was nothing.
