Electrum circlet

A band of electrum, Mól-made, shaped to sit high on the head near the hairline and fall lower at the back. It is engraved all over, but not with writing: small closed shapes, mouths or circles, something between a six and a nine, laid on the way filigree is laid on. Nothing in them has ever been read as writing.

It came out of a hidden wall-safe in a sealed Mól library with three potions beside it, and went unidentified for a long while afterwards. A reading of its auras found two, both faint, one evocation and one transmutation, and got no further; the sight ran out before it could say what either was for. An Elder shown the circlet later could place the wearer if not the use: such things were worn by “sensitive” Mól artisans, the same class of craftsmen who put living creatures into gems.

Both auras have since been read out. One is a Light, called up by a word in Taal and steerable six ways once lit. The other raises by two the number of ion stones that may orbit the wearer’s head, a generosity the party has never been placed to use, having never owned one. Who carries it was never written down. It has not been worn.
