Galderian crossbow fire-bolt kit
A flint-strike attachment and a case of bolts, fitted to Aldo's crossbow by Hinta
Hinta looked over Aldo’s crossbow and fitted it with a small wired thing that hangs a tongue of steel along the side, out of the line of sight. The bolts that go with it are steel-headed with flint set into the head; loosed, the head strikes the steel on its way out and the shaft takes light. With it came a bolt case, five bolts made up and ready in it, an attachment for a bolt carrying a reserve of oil, and one headless bolt and vial handed over bare so that Aldo could take it apart and learn how it was done.
Five gold, and she would not come down to three (payable when she next came to Harad). She can strike more heads; the shafts and the vials want a fletcher, a woodworker and a glassblower, none of whom Aldo has yet found.
None of the bolts has yet been loosed in anger. Aldo had it in hand against Beltran and thought better of shooting a man who wears something at the neck that turns a bolt aside.
