Orsk's unfinished Vroga idol

A votive to Vroga Waruk, cut from Mól ruin-stone and never finished

STANDING: WORKINGS · VOTIVE · VROGA WARUK

A small stone idol of Vroga Waruk, carved by Orsk of the Order of the Broken Chain and left unfinished. It was nearly done. Orsk was killed by the gnolls of the Valley of Doom, and it has stayed as he left it.

Yara went back through their ransacked camp and brought out three things: her falchion, a sack of coin, and this. She put it in Koa’s hand and said her companion had liked to work at such things, and that she understood the god was close to Koa’s heart. She had no wish to keep it. If she kept something for everyone she had lost, she said, she would need three horses of her own to carry it all.

It bears the Order’s mark: an axe, and the chains already broken around it. The stone is a chunk out of one of the Mól ruins, picked up by coincidence, and there is metal veined through it, which Orsk had worked into the line of the chain itself. Stone gives under a blade. That metal does not, and the carving is cruder there than the rest of it deserves.

Koa took it as a keepsake of a man he had helped bury, and as tribute.
