Idioma
The tongue of Escaria, kept by nobles of many nations and apt to take over the room
Idioma belongs to no language family. The general survey of the tongues of Erôth gives its usual speakers as Escaria and many other nobles besides, and holds that it is written as well as spoken. It does not stay in Escaria. Where the upper echelons of several nations gather at once, it is Idioma that tends to take over the event, whoever called it.
Aldo’s first meeting with Nathan Fox in Loshev opened with a long and very politely worded complaint, in Idioma, about how corrupt the town was and how poorly it had received them. Fox heard the whole of it out. He answered in the same tongue that it was terrible indeed, and that not everybody is of the more civilized lands or understands the more civilized approach, though in time they would learn. Only then did he give his own name, and he gave it in Peren. He had already noticed that Aldo sounded Galderian. Koa stood through the entire exchange without a word of it.
Aldo sang in it as well. Carried over snowbound peaks in the talons of a giant eagle and certain he was about to die, he sang a hymn to Vëné in Idioma.
