An inside guard at the Silver Web’s hideout in the Mól ruins under Haudh-Gwenn, on duty downstairs the winter the Valiant Few came through the ruins in disguise. What undid him was Mikhail’s trousers. They were tailored, which nothing on that floor was, and he could not leave them alone; he talked about how they sat, haggled, and in the end swapped his own worn pair for them and gave the party the run of the upstairs. Then he stopped himself, apologized for the rudeness of not having done it sooner, and gave his name. Mikhail went back up in the guard’s rags.

The Standoff

A season later the Web sent men to look the party over at their own door, and four of them did not report back. Tony sent Foren to collect them. He turned up at the head of an armed party with Casper concussed near to death on the ground between the two sides, and talked it down instead of finishing it: the four captives went back to the Web, the party kept one Web man and the heavy crossbow as collateral, and one crossbowman ran off rather than surrender the weapon. He offered to bring them to the guild’s actual leadership.

The leadership came instead. Serra arrived at dusk with her hands held out from her sides, and Foren was one of the two men on the rubble behind her. When the parley ended it was Foren the party were told to deal with from then on, which put the guild’s dealings with them in the hands of a subordinate rather than its information-broker. He is still that. On the way out somebody thanked him for the pants, while wearing a face he had never seen, and he had no idea what was being said to him.
