Joey
Hired man on the auction-camp raid who went into the burning laboratory alone, and the only one of them who spoke up for the party afterwards
Joey was hired in Haudh-Gwenn for the raid on the slaver auction camp, and was one of the two out of five who were worth the money (S1E10). A slaver threw a flask of alchemist’s fire during the fighting and the back rooms went up. On Koa’s order Joey went in after it alone and put it out, saving most of what was in there, the ring’s ledgers among it. He came out of that night on three hit points.
He was also the only one of them who spoke up for the party. When the guide Malik came out of the cave furious about the ransacking and started in on them, loudly, it was Joey who cut across it: the slavers’ leader had chosen to die executing chained prisoners rather than surrender, the party had fought through his men to reach him with no help at all, and three lives could have been saved. Malik had nothing to say back.
They paid him a share ahead of their own. Aldo told him to his face that he was the only one who had done the job he was hired for and had gone well past it, and Edrick dug a gold coin out of his boot, put it in his hand, and said under his breath that he deserved more.
