Dream catchers

Mikhail needs one in hand to cast dream shield, the spell he built himself once the nightmares began working their way through Haudh-Gwenn, and the catcher is used up in the casting. He holds that a focus bead would answer just as well, and has never found one.

There were none to be had in the city when he first wanted one. A professor, a smith and the Chantry were each raised as somebody who might make them and none of it came to anything, until Koa sat down with Dwayne in the downtime week. Dwayne had none himself but supplied the other half of the materials, and Koa did the craft work over a couple of days. Three came out of it: three castings, or as it was reckoned at the time, one full night and one half a night.

The first went on Katalia, who had been dreading sleep since Beltran nearly killed her and was dreaming it again more vividly each time, waking as though it had happened afresh. She fell asleep partway through the incantation. That left two, and at the Twisted Grove two would not stretch to everyone, so Aldo was given restful sleep instead.
