Dream shield

A spell Mikhail built himself against the nightmares running through Haudh-Gwenn, spending a dream catcher for every casting

STANDING: CRAFTS · SPELL · MIKHAIL'S OWN · HAUDH-GWENN

Mikhail built dream shield himself, and he built it for a reason: Haudh-Gwenn had run with nightmares since the Slumbering Queen left it, and there was nothing to hand that would stop one. It costs a dream catcher to cast, which the working consumes. He believes a focus bead would serve in place of a catcher and has never found one to try.

That makes the supply the limit rather than the caster. Three catchers are three castings, which he counted as one full night and one half a night of protected sleep. Koa and Dwayne made him three over a couple of days, Dwayne finding the materials and Koa doing the craft work.

The first went on Katalia, who was dreading sleep because she was dreaming her own stabbing over and over, more vividly each time, and had thrashed hard enough one night to need her bandages changed and a stitch looked at. She fell asleep partway through the incantation. The other two he kept for the last night before the curse-break, one for Ashanti and one for himself, when something first came scratching at the edges of their minds where they slept. Aldo got restful sleep instead, the third casting having gone to Katalia days before.
