One of the two arsonists Beltran Grayeras put on the payroll of his six independent sellswords, and the one who came out of it alive. A chain shirt and nothing else worth the naming, and no remorse whatever: he had been getting paid to burn people alive, and said so in those words. He fired the Haudh-Gwenn town hall, then went to ground in a stolen rowhouse with his brother Tar, and after Tar was killed in the hallway Mikhail talked him into surrendering through a closed door.

He would not believe Beltran was dead even after Koa told him whose blade had done it, calling it a filthy rumor and expecting to be paid by somebody regardless, on the grounds that the man had a mother. He gave up the target list readily enough: the town hall, prominent houses, and councilors to be removed. What was not on the written page was Traxian Grayeras’s own house, left off deliberately in case the page was ever found. Afterward he tried to trade his neck to Councilor Elren Amin for a meeting with Beltran’s folks. Amin told the council later that it had only ever been bait, and let it pass. He was handed to the Haudh-Gwenn guard.
