Nagan Lowlander Thuluta keeps the horses of the Free Folk’s Host, which is no small office among a people who live on horseback. Every member who comes through the Trail is expected to tame at least one horse of his own, and the skill they refine above every other is archery from horseback. Some go further and make horse-breeding their particular work for the community. What comes off the Free Folk’s herds is held to be better than anything that can be bought in Loshev.

He is a Mountain Man, of the mountain country east of Idir, which is a long way from the plains whose horses he keeps. What brought him from the one to the other was never written down.
