The Silver Web's lieutenants

The Silver Web is run day to day by three people, and the split between them is clean. Serra handles what the guild knows. Tony handles what it breaks. Dresk handles what it owns. Above the three sits Vaerlyn the Pale, and the party were never told that name; what they were told, by a guild man at their door and again by Serra, was that Tony was the boss of the men they had been fighting and was not the one in charge.

Tony is a half-orc and the guild’s blunt instrument, holding collections, threats and the making of problems into no problem, with eighteen of the twenty-seven under him. He never came in person. When four of his men went into the Mól ruins to look at the strangers living there and did not come back, he sent Foren and more men to collect them, and it was Tony’s people who had already left Casper beaten near to death and put a bolt through Mikhail’s leg on the way to a conversation. Serra’s apology for it was that Tony keeps things simple, and simple is often the wrong decision. A half-orc named Tony also wears a guard’s uniform in Loshev, and the party spent a minute of the parley describing the one to a man who worked for the other. What they got back was that it sounded like him, and then that any half-orc would, and the subject moved on. Nothing was settled in that room. What settles it is that the Loshev man was in Loshev the whole while.

Dresk is old, soft-spoken, and was a scribe before he was a forger. He keeps the records, the blackmail ledgers and the bribes to officials, with a single man under him and the best claim in the guild to knowing who owes what to whom. He never appeared either, and the party dealt with him at one remove, through the terms he set on the burned ruins they were squatting in. The Web would cover a few days rent free, as an apology for what had been done to Casper. After that the party could pay rent to stay where they were, or hand Dresk one favor of his choosing and be moved somewhere more central and less on fire. They were given a week to decide and never took the second offer.

Serra was the only one of the three who came in person, and everything the party holds of the guild came out of that one evening on the rubble.
