Tariq al-Mahir

While kindhearted, Tariq is a realist. He wants what’s best for the people but will reluctantly do what’s necessary. He follows the council’s rulings diligently and holds those under him to the same standard. Hardworking and well-kept, Tariq earned a reputation as a guard who can’t be easily bought, which eventually led to Rook and Crestborne sponsoring him for the position of Constable in Loshev. Now, it’s his responsibility to oversee the safety of the town and its surrounding lands.

Campaign Updates

The bandit hunt that first bound the party together was his. Four attacks on the roads in about two months, the last of them leaving a merchant dead, took him before the council to ask it to open the coffers and deputize somebody to go into the eastern woods. He funded it out of that, deputized the three of them to carry it out, and took the smuggling evidence they brought back without asking too closely how they had come by it. He was openly skeptical of both Aldo and Mikhail, and objected outright to Aldo being sentenced onto the hunt; Yullen Gemsmith and Nikolas Rook overruled him. It was the closest thing to official standing the three of them had in Loshev that year.

He is not easily amused. When the party turned up to a trial wearing the convicted man’s clothes he declined to see the joke, and observed that old people have long memories. He still handed over the key for the slave shackles.
